Who We Are: Wabadowgang Noopming Management
Wabadowgang Noopming Management is the licence holder of the Wabadowgang Noopming Forest and is responsible for the management of the Forest under the Crown Forest Sustainability Act. Whitesand First Nation is the primary shareholder of Wabadowgang Noopming Management, which provides the opportunity for Whitesand First Nation community members to meaningfully contribute and expand opportunities within forest management and operations in their Traditional territory. NorthWinds Environmental Services is a small employee-owned environmental services company that has been working with Whitesand since 2019 by providing expertise in forestry. NorthWinds is a minority shareholder in Wabadowgang Noopming Management.
Wabadowgang Noopming Management also aims to:

Increase Whitesand First Nation’s decision-making power for all activities taking place on its traditional territory;

Maximize economic development opportunities associated with commercial forestry activities by providing Sagatay Economic Development and Whitesand with additional capacity in pursuing opportunities to increase fibre flow in anticipation of the new pellet/cogeneration facility;

Build capacity within the community of Whitesand through internships and job shadowing;

Ensure adequate flow of revenue to cover the cost of forest management activities;

Identify and realize opportunities for community members and local businesses to work directly and indirectly on the forest; and

To establish long term sustainable economic growth for both the community and the surrounding region.
Company Structure
Wabadowgang Noopming Forest Management Inc. is a shareholder company and goes by the business name of Wabadowgang Noopming Management. As the Licence Holder on the WN Forest, WNM is responsible for the forest management of the Wabadowgang Noopming Forest which includes Forest Management planning, regeneration, and local workforce training and capacity building. Wabadowgang Noopming Management is committed to sustainable forest management of the Wabadowgang Noopming Forest. Harvesting and wood delivering activities will be carried out by WNM through contract agreement with facilities using the fibre.
Board of Directors
The WNM Board of Directors has five positions; three are held by Whitesand First Nation community members, and the other two by NorthWinds Environmental Services Principals. The Board members, together with staff and partners, bring a wealth of business experience and forest management knowledge to the company.

As a Whitesand First Nation owned company, Wabadowgang Noopming Management has three community Board members that ensure traditional values, needs, and concerns are met and addressed.
